There is more than one way in
“Getting into the trades” does not mean everyone needs the same route. Your best next step depends on your age, experience, qualifications and whether you want structured training, hands-on entry-level work or a role that uses skills you already have.

Useful if you are moving into practical work from another industry or starting without a full trade qualification. Be clear about what you can already do and what you still need to learn.
A route for people who already have some site or trade experience and want more regular work, broader exposure or a path towards becoming more skilled in a particular trade.
If you are already time-served or experienced, use your Work Profile to show the trades you work in, your area, experience and the kind of employed or subcontract work you want next.
How TradeKind Recruitment works
TradeKind Recruitment is designed to reduce the gap between people looking for practical local work and Sussex trade businesses that need people. It does not make the hiring decision for either side.
Tell businesses which trades interest you, where you can work, your experience level and the kind of role you want. You control whether the profile is visible.
Look through vacancies published by participating Sussex trade businesses and apply when the role is genuinely relevant to you.
Visible Work Profiles can also be broadly suggested through TradeKind's recruitment system. A suggestion is only a starting point; the business still decides whether to invite or connect.
Make the profile useful
A useful Work Profile is specific and honest. Do not try to sound more experienced than you are. A business looking for a trainee needs different information from one looking for an experienced subcontractor.
TradeKind uses broad relevance matching. For live vacancies that can include trade, experience and area. Some direct Work Profile suggestions use trade and area. A match is not a job offer, hiring recommendation, reference or TradeKind verification of the person.
Your contact details remain private until the recruitment flow reaches a permitted connection point. You should still ask questions about the role, business, pay or rate, employment status, training and working arrangements before agreeing anything.
Qualifications and tickets listed on a TradeKind Work Profile are self-declared. That keeps the profile practical, but it also means employers must verify certificates or credentials directly before relying on them for a role.
The same principle works both ways: a Work Profile helps start a conversation, but you should make your own checks about any business and opportunity before accepting work.
Official routes and training information
TradeKind is a local recruitment route, not a training provider or government apprenticeship service. These official resources are useful if you are deciding which trade to enter or looking for formal training in England.
